A Mission

The Lord has a mission for every person on this earth, but there are SO many different ways to fulfill that mission. The most rewarding, but also the hardest, most challenging way, is to follow your dreams. They are not sent as an illusion to torture you, but never be achieved. The vision you see in your mind is possible. With strict obedience to the voice of the spirit inside you, it is all possible.

I've been studying the story of David and Goliath, and David is a great example of someone who followed his heart in order to complete a mission he had been called to. He knew that the power of the greatest man on earth is laughable compared to God's power, so if God wanted him to defeat Goliath, he would. Did he know for sure that that's what would happen? No, but he saw the vision of what was possible in his mind, and decided to take the leap of faith into action. Literally!

He wasn't afraid to take an unknown path to get there either. Most people, if any had been brave enough to take Goliath on themselves, would've, without thinking twice, taken up armor, shield and sword. That's the only way to defeat a GIANT in battle, right? David knew, however, that the path to victory is not always a straight, logical line. You can imagine King Saul's confusion when David forsook the armor to take an unexpected path. "And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine."

Even his own brother mocked him for coming, scolded him, was angry with him. "I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart;" David pushed forward in full confidence knowing that WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF YOU DOES NOT MATTER. Only God knows your heart. And when the Lord called, he didn't take his sweet time to answer. "...when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, David ran toward the army to meet the Philistine."

I don't think even David realized though, that as you do things for God, with all the glory to God, man will take notice. In his case, the love people had for him after he answered God's call would eventually lead him to become the next KING.

As Walt Disney once said, or was it Mickey Mouse?... same, same. "If you can dream it, you can do it!" All you have to do is first, keep the end result in mind. From time to time, take time to dream. And then listen and act on all the small, daily, consistent steps it will take to get there. Don't forget along the way as well, that smart people know how to ask for help.

Love, Beth
